summer knitting projects

After we moved into our new house I misplaced my DPN's and of course, all I wanted to knit were mittens and socks. So I had to settle for some scarves and mitts that could be knitted flat. Like this pattern sweetly named Accidental Girly Mitts I found on Ravelry...

I'm knitting a short version of this pattern because I don't like mittens that add bulk beneath my coat sleeves. The yarn I'm using is Fleece Artist Sea Wool fingering in moss. I already can see myself wearing these with my navy pea coat this winter.

A little garter stitch is just what the knitting doc ordered. I recently finished a pattern from Pickles called "All The Way Around" cowl. I love how it turned out.

I also started working on a simple garter stitch duo from Pickles-Straight On Driving Scarf and Mitts

The yarn is a very vivid orange-red which should look cheery in mid-January. Can't wait to wear these this winter! So simple and well, I do love the look of garter stitch. Good social knitting projects! Although I'm getting a little bored at this point, I just need to wrap up these projects and get ready for some winter sweater knitting.
